NOTE: Visitors to this site will note that there is considerable difference in both the presentation style and length of some of the bio sketches as they appear below. In the official printed program prepared by the conference sponsors, a uniform presentation format has been followed as is appropriate for such documents. These summaries are reproduced here exactly as they appear in the official program.

For the purposes of the electronic environment, however, we set ourselves another and rather more difficult task, which for reasons of time and the number of persons involved has only been in part accomplished. The goal is to help those attending the conference and others get a better idea about those who are taking the lead in the meeting, with a view to laying the groundwork for eventual future contacts and perhaps even collaboration. Thus, in those cases in which we were able to, speakers, etc., are also identified with a photograph, a somewhat longer Vitae (where we have encouraged informality where that is agreeable to the person), and a few other bits of what we believe to be useful by way of identifying background. Where possible, e-mail addresses and other addresses have been provided. In each case where these longer biographical sketches are provided, this has been done so with the explicit approval and cooperation of the person in question. These materials are intended only for the consultation of participants in the conference and this Web site, and any other use, including for commercial purposes, is expressly forbidden.

All speakers, panelists, chairs, and members of the two organizing committees are cordially invited to send on these additional materials.
