Mr. Gilbert is an independent consultant specializing in transportation, waste management, energy systems and urban governance. Current assignments include coordination of a nine-country OECD project to characterize and develop guidelines for sustainable transportation, provision of advice to a major private-sector provider of waste management services, management of the introduction of district cooling in downtown Toronto and co-authorship of a book commissioned by the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements. He has also served as president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and as president of the Canadian Urban Institute.
