  • In a bit of a hurry today?

  • No problem. We were waiting for you. Start with the Ten Minute Intro to dig in

  • Got 20 minutes?. Even better. Check out the Ultra Fast-Track just to your left.

But don't forget as you start in: There is a lot of content here, but there is no substitute for imagination. Even with all this detail, you are going to have to fill in a lot of the dots yourself. This approach to planning and policy may be short when is comes to using the taxpayers' money, but it is long on thought, originality, perseverance, and leadership skills. And that's real hard work!

    Your first visit here?

If so welcome -- and now let's see if we can give you a couple of quick hints that will help you navigate your way through this rather extensive set of materials, supporting information and leads without getting lost or wasting time. A few minutes patience with this page should serve you well to get started.

To put this into perspective we should point out that this site has two sets of goals and functions. On the one hand it lays out the basic information support for the Advisory/Briefs and serves as the instrument for informing and bringing subscribers into the project. In our view that is a fairly streamlined task, and for that reason we have laid out the two Fast-Tracks that you will find explained here.

Beyond that the site provides a rich database, toolkit and question set for sustainable transport and New Mobility in cities -- and this is a far less streamlined task. But that too we have taken into account here, as we hope you will see if you continue on with this page.

We have set up no less than four "paths" into this very large site which is further complicated and enriched by many hot links and extensions. They are:

    • The Ten Minute Intro
    • The Ultra Fast-Track
    • The Fast Track
    • The Top and Left menus

The Ten Minute Intro leads you in quick order through a short press release, two short videos, and a summary description of the Briefs, with a two minute audio introduction.

The Ultra Fast-Track consists of seven key links, and all it takes to access it is to go to the appropriate menu item and then to click your way down this short list. At the end of that process you should have a quite good idea of what this project is all about. We have been told that something on the order oof 20 minutes is enough for this first round.

The Fast-Track is more comprehensive and has been set up as a more complete alternative to the Ultra. You should give yourself something on the order of an hour to work your way fully through the fourteen steps that appear in the left menu right below it. It takes you not only to text pages here, but also to no less than a dozen short videos which we think help to set the stage and in the process, showing you brief and often humorous examples of good (New Mobility) and some very bad (i.e., "old mobility") practices. If this seems like an awful lot of time for you, well remember we are talking about a situation which very few cities in the world are even starting to master. So perhaps it's not such a bad idea to take a bit of time to get a better feeling for what is going on. And what can be made to happen if you are able to get on the right side of the leadership challenge.

    Getting around this site

This site is a considerable information resource, and your main keys to this use of it are the two menus that you will see here both top and left.

The top menu is intended to work a bit like the Fast-Tracks, inviting the user to click through it from left to right to get a feel for the project and its main offerings and content. It also is often used to post latest additions or major changes.

The left menu, by contrast, is far more detailed and is laid out in the hope that the visitor looking for in-death information on our topic will chose to work their way down it top to bottom. It is supported in many pages by an additional internal left menu, but it will be hope that most users will find their way with these guidelines. And should you get lost at any point or not be able to put your hands on something . . .

Site Map and Search: You may also find it useful to know about two handy navigation tools in case you get lost in this rather big site or need to find something. You will see the Site Map link always on line in the left menu toward the top. The Search box at the base of the menu should also be helpful

To discuss: And if you run into any problems, have questions or might simply want to disuses a project or more generally how all this can be put to work in your city or for your program or group, all you have to do is click the Contact link to your left and there you will find everything you need to know about how to do this.
