  • The goal of this and all programs under The Commons is to put the tools of the Information Society to work to help us communicate efficiently and together to build for the future. The kinds and range of contact possibilities is rapidly expanding and improving -- and one of our secondary objectives is to make a contribution toward sharing not only this information, but also to spur the use of these group work tools with the growing numbers of people and groups around the world who share our concerns about sustainability and social justice.

This is an interactive, multi-directional Web site. World Car/Free Days makes use of several levels of email contact. First, direct contacts between our members and the organizers -- via the Contact Team Car/Free Day email link. In addition, there is the World Car/Free Days Forum where we all get together to exchange information and ask questions that pertain specifically to CarFree Day organization and planning. (Before sending messages to the group the first time, kindly check out the Welcoming Note which sets out our simple guidelines of neighborly behavior.)

That we all get together to do this freely and in a neighborly manner is just part of a whole broader process. All progress toward sustainability is going to be something that we will achieve rather like this -- by working together, simply, efficiently and without a whole lot of personal afterthoughts.
