  • If you need to get a better understanding feel of what is going on in the carshare sector at the leading edge, and how to make a carshare operation or program work, World Carshare provides a pretty good place to start. Here is what we propose as the firing order for taking full advantage of what you have access to here (which as you will see goes way beyond the content of this single site and program, reaching out to our friends and colleagues worldwide who are in fact the core of the carshare revolution).

    1. Take your time to work your way through this rather complete site and its many extensions. Start by clicking your way through the Home Page and then move on to our comprehensive Quick Tour to get a feel for what you have here.

    2. If you are not comfortable in reading a lot of English language text, try the machine translation links that appear on each page of the site. Carefully used, they can help. Click here for more.

    3. A useful early step would be a quick visit to the more than 800 Cities listing of places in which you can carshare today.

    4. Next, we invite you to spend some time with the World Carshare Inventory to get a feel both for the outstanding operations worldwide and for those in or close to your area.

    5. Then a visit to the Regional and National Groups of most relevance to you

    6. Check out our growing International Inventory of Technology Suppliers and other sources of service and support.

    7. A useful next stop can be our section on Print Resources and News, again available at a single click. And the Carshare Media Library.

    8. A review of the several thousand e-messages, views and counsel that have been exchanged over the years by the several hundred outstanding innovators and authorities in the field worldwide in our Discussion Forum Talk Carsharing can also be valuable. (And the Forum is quite nicely searchable, so you should be able to narrow your search without too much trouble.)

    9. Bear in mind that carsharing part -- in fact a relatively small part (we call it a "2% solution"-- of a much greater whole, a whole that we call the New Mobility Agenda. Make sure that you are familiar with the thinking and information that is covered by this important companion site. Carsharing is part of a greater whole.

    10. Have a specific question or problem you think the group can help you with. Try sending a message to the group (mail to WorldCarshare@yahoogroups.com) with a clear statement of your problem or requirement. (The forum is moderated to ensure that all communications are directly relevant and focused, to respect the very busy members of the group.)

    11. Still have a question or want to talk over your project? Click Contact here and get in touch. We will be pleased to try to point you in the right direction, and indeed that's why we are here. We firmly believe that carsharing is part of the solution to the challenges of sustainable mobility in our cities and have been firmly behind the movement for many years..
