Objective :

Report on progress in Spanish government’s Accessible Cities program in general, and in particular to review the challenges of pedestrian zones and policies that work in terms of architectural character, life quality, local commerce and the transport system. Granada, will present its achievements, along with several other Spanish cities. International presentations by Jan Gehl of Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and by Eric Britton of EcoPlan.

Structure:

Two plenary sessions. Appointed speakers. Some printed presentations. Limited opportunity for questions from audience and public discussion. Short final report with meeting overview and conclusions.

Target audience:

City, regional, environment and transport planners. Administrators, policymakers. Experts from consultancies, research institutes, and municipalities.

Language:

Spanish. Gehl and Britton sessions translated from English/Spanish. Some papers possibly available in English

Possibility that some papers may be logged onto electronic environment.
