This World Wide Web site is being built up and extended in continuing iterative stages in order to create an efficient, cooperative, 21st Century "knowledge building" space. It is supported by an impressive array of communications and information tools which are steadily being expanded and improved.

  1. Menu Bar
Your first guide in getting around the site is the Menu Bar just to your left. If this is your first visit, may we ask you to take a moment to click your way down it quickly to get a feel for how the site is organized. The Menu is your constant companion and source of orientation as you move around the site.

  2. Help Desk
The Help Desk is located right on top of the Menu, and there it stays no matter where you are on the site. In addition to providing an introduction to many of the tools that are included in our rather comprehensive package, it also can be useful as a check out for your own equipment, software and work routines. Strongly recommended for the first time user.

  3. @World Forum (Library/Media/Communications Support)
If you wish to make full use of these capabilities, you will want to start with the @World Forum link just to your left; this will call up a short page of explanatory information which we would kindly ask you to read there before proceeding. Once you are in your @Forum, you will note that each page there is equipped with its own dedicated Information/Help function that is clearly labelled and quite complete. For an overview of how the @Forum is organized, please go to the section Putting the @World Forum to Work.

  4. @Search & Find and @Reference Shelf
The Search/Research and @Reference Shelf functions are among the most powerful information resources that this site offers. Each comes with careful instructions for use.

  5. Quick Translations: At the upper left of most pages you will see a modest link which says:Quick translate this page. For more on how that valuable tool works between six languages, see Translate Help

  6. The Commons
And since this site links in several ways with the broader framework provided by The Commons, we can suggest that first time visitors may also wish to take a moment to familiarize themselves with some of the tools and helpful information, insights and links that you will find set out and explained there. The section Opening Guidelines for The Commons should be helpful in this regard.
