Conclusions
Findings, Conclusions, and Recommendations of the Conference
This is likely to be the least used of all the chapters of this
Web site, until that is the last stages of the Conference and
thereafter. This is only appropriate of course since it is quite
literally the final destination of all of the preceding sections
and of the meeting itself. For many who consult the electronic
record of the meeting once the Vancouver Conference has formally
closed its doors, it will be here where they are likely to begin
their search. Since it is our intention to maintain this site
over the full year, it will be these post-meeting uses that need
to be kept to the fore and systematically anticipated and provided
for.
Under these circumstances it is difficult for us to suggest at
this moment much about even layout and organization of the following,
never mind of course its content. For the time being, we will
have to content ourselves with the admittedly elementary structure
that is sketched out below, in the knowledge that as the results
of this process begin to come in, all this will take shape.
- Main Findings of the Meeting
- Key points where there is evidence of strong consensus
- Important points where there are considerable differences
of opinion
- Recommendations (General and specific, indicating the groups
or institutions directly involved)
- Research (including joint projects, interdisciplinary research
and trans-national collaboration)
- Institutional reform or innovations (International, national,
other)
- Demonstrations and action programs
- Final Reports
- Official OECD documents
- Reports, etc. of Environment Canada and other sponsors
- Other post-meeting or follow-up reports or papers
- Press commentary (general and specialized)
