Sara Afshar was born in Teheran Iran not too long ago and is presently a student of geology at the University of Teheran. She is one of four founders of the Daumoon environment group last year at the university, along with another geology and two forestry students, all women. Today the group has some 40 members, half of whom women.

In honor of Earth Day Daumoon will be introducing their organization to the public; explaining Earth Day and Car Free Day; presenting a lecture; displaying a movie about pollution, and holding a photo exhibition. The Car Free Day event will include hiking programs and has the support of the local subway organization.
