How to place your order

As you will see when you begin to browse the shelves, ordering a title is straight forward. You first select the title(s) you wish to order by clicking and adding them to your "Shopping Cart" (Add to Cart). From the Shopping Cart you can:

  • Proceed to checkout
  • Keep shopping
  • Delete or save items for later.
When you have completed your selection, you then procede to the Checkout Counter, where clear instructions walk you through the final stages of your transaction.

Foreign Currency Exchange Calculator
All prices on the Detour site are listed in Canadian and US dollars.
Prices on your Shopping Cart (and the total payable) are listed in Canadian dollars. Use the Universal Currency Converter to find out what the total amount of your purchase is in your local currency. Please note that calculations may not be exact as exchange rates fluctuate frequently.

Security Policy

As you complete your Detour Publications order, you'll be asked for your name, address, and credit card number. Our secure server software (SSL) is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. As reported in a recent Knight-Ridder News Service, "In 1998, there were no reports of credit-card information stolen on the World Wide Web during a transfer of information over a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) line, the kind of line used by Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Explorer. There were no slip-ups. None."

Once you have submitted your information, it is stored in a highly protected computer that notifies us that you have purchased Detour products. We then download your information directly from the secure site in order to validate your name and credit card number - in much the same way that restaurants and stores handle your purchases. Only two people at Detour have access to your information. Though we keep track of this information in a highly protected computer, you will have to provide your name, address and credit card number each time you order.

Other ways to order

Though ordering Detour products through their Secure Server Software is the easiest, quickest and cheapest way to begin reading (or watching!) your purchase, we understand that you may prefer to place your order through more traditional means. Below is a list of alternative purchasing options:

  • By FAX (VISA Only):
    1. Using the Detour website, add all the books you would like to purchase to your Shopping Cart.
    2. When you are finished, select VISA as your Payment Type* and then proceed to the "Checkout".
    3. Fill in all the required information (name, address, etc.) and print out the page. .
    4. Fax this page to Detour Publications (416-392-0071).
    5. Click on the "Empty Cart" button.
    6. Once we receive your order with VISA card number, we will ship your products to you.

  • By Mail (VISA or Cheque* only):
    1. On the website, fill your Shopping Cart.
    2. Select and complete Payment Type.
    3. Proceed to the "Checkout".
    4. Fill in all the required information (name, address, VISA or cheque* number, etc.)
    5. Print out the page and mail it to Detour Publications.
    6. Click on the "Empty Cart" button.

    Or:
    Using the Detour Feedback Form, e-mail us for our print catalogue. We will mail the catalogue to you so that you may choose the products you would like to purchase. (Please remember that this catalogue was printed in 1998 so be sure to cross-reference the catalogue with Detour's web site for the most recent product list and prices).

Once your order with VISA card number or cheque is received*, your products will be shipped immediately.

* If you are mailing a cheque, please note that we can only accept Canadian and US funds at the moment. Be sure to double-check our US book prices in the catalogue since the Shopping Cart will only calculate in Canadian dollars.
