This is an interactive, multi-directional Web site. With your permission, we will insist on both of these characteristics because they are at the heart of what we are trying to accomplish here.
The goal of this, and indeed of all programs under The Commons, is to put the tools of the Information Society to work to help us communicate efficiently and together to build for the future. The kinds and range of contact possibilities is rapidly expanding and improving -- and one of our secondary objectives is to make a contribution toward sharing not only this information, but also to spur the use of these group work tools with the growing numbers of people and groups around the world who share our concerns about sustainability and social justice.
The @Journal makes use of no less than three kinds or levels of email contact. First, direct contacts between readers and the editorial board -- via the
Contact Editors email link. In addition, there is the Message Center of the Journal, a low volume direct email link which is used for announcements of new issues and related topics.
Lastly we would draw your attention to the @ccess Discussion Forum -- an open, moderated forum inviting information and discussions of matters relating to sustainable transport in the broadest sense, and hosted by the @ccess on the Web site. (Before sending messages to the group the first time, we would ask you to read the Welcoming Note which sets out our simple guidelines of neighborly behavior.)
That we all get together to do this freely and in a neighborly manner is just part of a whole broader process. All progress toward sustainability is going to be something that we will achieve rather like this -- by working together, simply, efficiently and without a whole lot of personal afterthoughts.
In addition to the above, you are also invited to explore the expanding communications toolkit that is offered by our @World Forum, which you can access directly simply by clicking the link on the menu to your left.
