  • Global Networks in Support of New Mobility (current listing)

These international groups and programs, while varying widely in many aspects, all share a strong transportation component and sustainability core as well as being international in scope. Some may be a bit surprised that we are identifying them as "new mobility" nodes. However based on our knowledge of their work and the constant evolution in their approach, we are comfortable with this.

You will also note the high proportion of European programs in this listing. That accurately reflects both the state of progress in bringing these important new sustainable transportation innovations on line, and also the number and the quality of programs working across borders to support them. (An excellent model for the rest of the world.) That said, we are starting to see strong cross-country networking in the Asia Pacific area and Latin America. (See map at the end of this page which demonstrates this pattern.)

In the weeks ahead we are also getting in touch with a good cross-section of university and research groups working in this area, as well as libraries and other institutions with potential coverage. The idea is to spread the web slowly and in parallel engage these people and groups in order to have their views and counsel on this first-stage project.

Note: This list is still in process. Please do not hesitate to inform us of programs and groups that should be added to this listing. Thank you.

New Mobility Network - latest round of incoming contacts

As per 21 August 2008: This map, reporting the first rounds of enquiries coming into this project'd website, provides a good visual illustration of where the action is on our topic. That great white swatch that sweeps from south to north from Africa and up through the Middle East and on to the former Soviet countries is notable. And certainly worth a thought or two if our problem is a planetary one.
