The International Zero Emissions Joke Competition

Warden, here's the best I can do for you today ...

  • Image (compressed) submitted from Eric Britton, EcoPlan, Paris on the occasion of the 6th consecutive "Level II" Air Alert day in Paris on Monday, 25 August 1997. Traffic rolls!

August in Paris: Making our way to the conference hall this morning.

Warden, here's the best I can do for you today ...

Submitted to the unauthorized 1996 edition by Dr. Peter Newman of the Institute of Science and Technology Policy of Murdoch University (who said he was 'sorry'.)

  • There was a bus load of economists going over a cliff. Little panic was occurring inside as no problem was envisaged -- the demand for parachutes was considered to be sufficient to generate supply before the bus hit the rocks.

  • A similar bus load of road engineers followed over the cliff and was described by a zero emissions expert as a very promising start.

  • A third bus followed but three seats of road engineers were empty. The z/e expert described it as a 'tragic waste'.

Warden, here's the best I can do for you today ...
